  1. What is your first name?

Does Your name have any significant or sentimental meaning?

My father named me. My father believe that it is always important to be careful and take your time to think very well when making judgments. To him, intelligence and making proper use of reasoning is important for every man. This was why I was named Akil – “intelligent one who uses reason”.

What is your background/heritage and why is it important to you?

I’m from Tunisia, North Africa. I have a Muslim background. We believe a lot in peaceful coexistence with one another. This is what has helped us build a strong bond in the family. I will emulate that too once I have a family of my own.

What is the most challenging experience you have faced or are currently facing in your life and how did you/are you facing that challenge?

My most challenging experience was seeing Muslims being stereotyped as radicals due to the actions of some extremists. I know it would be hard to convince others that Muslims are nice and lovely people. With this, I believe everyone deserves at least a benefit of the doubt to show the true Islam. I do not judge people. No matter what, I am always willing to help.

What do you think will make the world a better place and what role can you play?

I think the world will be a better place if we strive for peaceful coexistence. War, killings, cannot solve anything. It only makes us regress. Irrespective of religious background, I am always ready to help others. This is what I think will make the world a better place.

What do you wish others would know about you that they cannot tell on the surface?

That I take my time before making decisions or judgments. I try not to make rash decisions or actions that can harm others. This is something I always like people to imitate.
