What is your first name?
Does Your name have any significant or sentimental meaning?
My fathers name is David and my brother’s middle name is David so yes My name has sentimental value to my family.
What is your background/heritage and why is it important to you?
I am of Irish/Swedish Ancestry. Its important to me because in some way the lands and people I have never visited feel like they impact me. I used to drink heavily, a trait that runs in Irish blood. But once I quit drinking, I started writing, another Irish trait. Maybe that’s just who I am, but I feel the invisible hand of ancestry guiding me today.
My swedish side gives me my dry humor and technical prowess. I grew up hearing about my Swedish grand fathers giant hands and how he would plow fields for hours. When I work, I want to work like a Swede. Again, I’ve never been to Sweden but that’s how I imagine them. Very industrious, polite and attentive.
What is the most challenging experience you have faced or are currently facing in your life and how did you/are you facing that challenge?
My Dad is a brain cancer survivor of a pretty large meningioma of the front right lobe. My mom currently is in the hospital undergoing Chemotherapy for Leukemia. When my dad got cancer I had a hard time dealing with it, 13 years later when my mom was diagnosed I took it in stride. I had learned that drinking is not the answer to being upset^^^. I spend as much time as I can with my mom and I work as hard as I possible can to make sure I will continue to be successful, to say thank you for all of the hard work, time and money that they put into me.
What do you think will make the world a better place and what role can you play?
Living in America I can safely say that if we really want to achieve post-racial harmony and stop all the craziness that is increasing on an hourly basis here, we have to adopt a colorblind mentality and stop seeing people for skin color and start seeing people as our neighbors.
What do you wish others would know about you that they cannot tell on the surface?
I have super empathy radar, its very easy for me to gauge when someone does not want to be bothered and unfortunately that feels like everyone all the time. I try to stay out of peoples way because I expect people to do the same for me. Unfortunately, I live in America and not Japan , so people are always in their own little world not paying attention to what they are doing or how it is impacting anyone else around them .
