What is your first name?
Does Your name have any significant or sentimental meaning?
My middle name Frances was my grandfather’s name. I used to be embarrassed by it when I was younger as I thought it was strange and masculine but now I love it and I’m proud of it.
What is your background/heritage and why is it important to you?
I am half Irish and half American. My American mother went on a vacation to Ireland where she met my father and decided to move there (and ended up living there for 15 years). I grew up in both Ireland and America and it gave me an incredible insight in moving between and experiencing different cultures.
What is the most challenging experience you have faced or are currently facing in your life and how did you/are you facing that challenge?
My most challenging (and rewarding) experience has been motherhood. Finding balance and the immense responsibility of raising a person is a constant challenge. However, I have found that as I have grown more comfortable in my role as a mother, the challenge just becomes a part of your daily life and you accept that it is not one that can be “solved”. You simply have to make the best choices you can.
What do you think will make the world a better place and what role can you play?
I actually think our children will make the world a better place and so my role as a mother is an important one. I hope to raise a child who respects and appreciates all cultures, the environment and our world.
What do you wish others would know about you that they cannot tell on the surface?
While private and sometimes unemotional on the outside, those who really know me know I can be open and sensitive. Oftentimes, it takes me quite some time to feel comfortable enough to be that open and I do wish this was something I could share with people more easily.
